Five Mistakes You're Making With Your Website

So you’ve got a website, maybe you’ve designed it yourself or had a friend help you out. But the truth is, if you’re not working with a professional, it’s likely you’re making these five common mistakes with your website.

  1. Not renaming image files

If you have uploaded images to your website, be sure to rename the file to SEO friendly names. This includes adding keywords describing both the image and the brand. Separate each word with a hypen too. So your image name would look like:

2. Not resizing images

This one is SO important for SEO. Large image files take too long to download and will affect the overall speed of your site. Run your images through TINYJPG and ensure that they are under 300kb in size each for optimal performance.

3. Not reviewing broken links

Reviewing your site regularly for obsolete content or broken links is so important. Each month schedule in a day to go through website content. Many brands require constant updates to their site, so if that’s you, ensure that you have a good process to check all content is still relevant and working as it should!

4. Not posting content regularly

Keeping your blog up to date and in action will help with SEO. It also shows your customer that you are actively still in business and continually serving them with free content. It’s a great way to build trust with your audience too. If you haven’t already set up a blog on your website, chat to us about how we can help!

5. Not editing your page’s meta descriptions

For every new page you create, make sure that you update the meta descriptions to be SEO friendly. This is what shows up when you do a Google Search. Writing content that is relevant to the page and also that includes keywords will help with your Google Ranking.
